Web resource string "Page. Background" now missing

We had a custom background on the guest page.  After the update, it's no longer working.  After looking into the Web Resources, the Page. Background string no longer exists.  Has this been renamed or changed?

Everyone, We really appreciate the feedback and we are listening; in the upcoming 25.5 release we have made a more neutral background as shown below. We are looking at adding a resource that would allow you to set the background color and possibly some gradient options.

The 25.5 release is in our Canary channel now, will move to Preview later today or Monday and we are planning to begin the rollout the week of August 4th.

I believe this is part of the customizations that they are removing. I'm hoping that some of them will return in a future release but for now they removing features that were being used by bad actors.

We had no background image set and when we installed the update it put the defualt rocket background. Simple solution is to overwrite PageBackground.png in C:\Program Files (x86)\ScreenConnect\Images with your own image

Overwriting the PageBackground.png file worked for me, but I had to restart the web server and delete my browser's cache before I could see the result. My colleague said that the default background looked like something designed for a kindergarten class rather than a professional MSP.

Exactly that. We run this hosted and cannot override in the Images directory. Suddenly there are spaceships visible and we immediately got calls from customers not trusting this system anymore. I understand why some customizations had to go, but remove this option and then defaulting back to a kindergarten image. Come on ConnectWise, what the hell are you thinking this is suitable for a serious MSP business. Change this setting back immediately or at least put in a solid colored black background!

If you were actually listening, and actually gave a crap about your customers, you could just swap out the background image without waiting for a full release (or just let us change it like we have been able to for 15 years!). And seeing how 25.4.25 was supposed to be released a month before it actually did get released, that indicates that we'll probably have to look at the Fisher Price remote access page for at least 3 more weeks.

We've just complained about this to our account manager because the functionality disappeared overnight without any warning that I can find.

As a result I've received a reply from the Product team that "this information has been available since the changes began" (which doesn't sound like any warning was given either)

I just want to let you know that:-

  • you made a highly visible made a change without telling us
  • you dropped the branding our clients trusted in favour of something they don't recognise
  • that eroded trust - our clients of us, our trust of you
  • you replaced it with something poor enough that it implied disregard for us and our appearance to our clients, and then you forced it on us as evidence of that disregard

Not sure what you expect when you openly decide to make us look bad. I *really* wish you hadn't, and I'll remember that this let us down.
