this might already be in the works but did not see it. It would be nice to be able to open up the devices C drive without connecting to the device. to copy and paste files in the back ground.

THE ABILITY TO COPY/PAST/MOVE WITH OUT BEING IN A SESSION LIKE TEAM VIEWER

New Features

Hello! Please add the following functions:

1. File transfer without connecting to the user.
2. Run files on behalf of the system without connecting to the user.
3. Correct the incorrect display of Russian text in the console

Thank you.

Make an option to disable file explorer opening on the host when sending/receiving files.

Similar products have the option to modify the installer for unattended hosts so that you can send/receive files without any visual confirmation on the host. It would be nice to be able to turn off the opening of file explorer on windows hosts when transferring files to/from hosts. This enables the remote control of kiosks and infoboards without interrupting whatever service they run when transferring files.

Deploy files to a specific location on remote machine

CW Admin to deploy files/folder to a user's computer without starting a session.

Option to do data file transfer even without logging in to a session
Side by side file transfer

Similar to how most remote support tools work like LogMeIn, etc

View local file system on left, view remote file system on right, transfer files or folders in either direction

Display option to select destination of file

Partner would like an option to select where a file is sent instead of the default folder.

Whoops, apologies. Backstage was released in 6.9, which is currently the latest stable. We forecast 7.0 going stable sometime in Q1 of next year. I mentioned 7.0 because it'll include an option for you all to directly join the backstage session instead of the console.

I just upgraded to 6.9 specifically to get access to this BackStage feature (and in anticipation of the 7.0 enhancement) but it is greyed out!

The link above says this is a requirement: "You must also have a license that includes the logon session switching feature." I have an on-premise / legacy license. Should I interpret the greyed out option to indicate my licensing is not good enough to qualify for this feature, or is this an oversight? I would hope this is not an attempt to coerce on-premise users to switch to the subscription model.

This is active for on prem Legacy and on prem Concurrent Tech. Make sure you have the "SwitchLogonSession" permission in your role: https://docs.connectwise.com/ConnectWise_Control_Documentation/Get_started/Administration_page/Security_page/Define_user_roles_and_permissions/List_of_role-based_security_permissions

Mike, is there a way to initiate this backstage functionality prior to connecting to the session as to not disrupt the user at all?    As of now, a tray icon popups up and notifies the user as well as the top bar stating we are controlling their session.  And of course the blanked background.

Thanks

7.0 you'll be able to launch the option from the host page. We'll have a beta in a few weeks.

This looks like interesting progression, if you start a backstage session, which user's scope is this session in?

Just wanted to report that after several days of use I'm finding Backstage an extremely powerful new feature. Thanks to the team for doing it.

It has some limitations / issues that hopefully will be addressed, including: the command windows cannot be resized; they do not support scrolling back (so previous output is lost after the small window fills up); there is no cursor indicating text position which makes it pretty tough to edit a command line; there is occasionally odd behavior with command windows not responding, or if you open a new command window it might be all black with no text, etc. Would be nice to be able to add entries to the Toolbox that issue pre-canned command lines to whichever window is in focus, such as oft-used powershell command lines.

Quibbles aside, it's a great enhancement and much appreciated.
