Better Support Large File Transfers

We regularly transfer fairly large files from our customers to our agents (typically large log files or database files) using the file transfer controls. During the transfer, the session become very laggy and unusable. We suspect this is because all of the available bandwidth is used for the file transfer.

We'd like to see an enhancement to restrict file transfer bandwidth either per session with an in-session control or to detect when other activity is happening in the client and implement a QoS-like solution to protect the control traffic.

Duplicates 2
File Transfer Throttle (QoS)
Avatar RKS

We have about 1951 endpoint that have screenconnect installed and its becoming much harder to control how much data each user can transfer via the remote client. Would be great to have a QoS feature/plug-in to set particular throttling and implement limits. Its a bit difficult to QoS SC ports because this will technically effect the whole application experience vs a targeted service such as FTP.

Add ability to specify maximum transfer speed used during file transfers

Partner is using SC/LT integration. When he connects into sessions via SC, he is dragging/dropping files onto the Guest machine that are sometimes very large (100-600+ MB). This utilizes all of the available network bandwidth, and causes everything else on the network to slow down tremendously.

He would like to have the ability to specify the maximum transfer speed allowed for file transfers.

Just adding onto this post. We have been using Automate with ScreenConnect for years and the file transfer has been great, we have always used the toolbox and transferred files where required to the remote computer.

We are moving away from Automate with ScreenConnect to another product with ScreenConnect and therefore have needed to setup a brand new ScreenConnect instance. We have been slightly disappointed that file / toolbox transfers via ScreenConnect sessions with the new instance is drastically slower than before. We have tested with the same computer on a 1GBps connection each side and the old ScreenConnect session transfer would max out at about 100mbps, our new ScreenConnect instance max's out at about 20mbps. When transferring installation files etc this is noticeably slower.

It would be great to see the increase in bandwidth able to transfer via a remote session to something similar to what we had before.

I'd like to add that what was considered to be a "large" file six years ago when this suggestion was added is probably no longer considered a large file by 2022 standards. Internet speeds have increased dramatically since then. The remote connection is sluggish and slow even for small file transfers.

Until ScreenConnect can implement something I would suggest using QoS on your firewall to prioritize certain types of traffic or put file transfers at the bottom of the list and give everything else priority over it.
