Universal support for AOSP and true unattended access
Hey Team,
The Android client is currently suffering from a couple critical shortcomings
We'd like to use ScreenConnect to manage a fleet of Android-powered kiosks but it's not possible in its current state.
First, it requires a permission for screencasting that needs to be granted on the Android computer itself.
It could be done during commissioning, but the problem is that permission is revoked upon a reboot.
Meaning that remote access is not really unattended and requires a physical input on the device.
Also, we've been trying to make it work on a couple Android SBC running Android 8 and 11, these boards don't come with the Google Play Services. These SBC and media players are ubiquitous in the kiosk/signage industry and are unattended by nature.
The documentation mentions that the apk needs to be signed in order to gain full control, however while the client is getting successfully registered with the server and sessions do open properly, tap and clicks don't work, which is a critical limitation.
Key events do work though, like home, back, or switch task.
Do you have any plan releasing a client that's not reliant on the screencasting permission, and making it work on the AOSP baseline?
Thanks.
