Customizations no longer supported from next version of ScreenConnect

So ScreenConnect will no longer support certain customizations from the next version onwards.

HOWEVER, the list includes resources that are actual sentences in English. My customers do not speak English and so we currently use a translation extension.

So my question is: Will the change mean the translation extension no longer applies to these resources?

I mean these resources in particular:

UnderControlBannerTextFormat

Your computer is being controlled by {0}The message in the small banner that appears on an end-user's screen when connected.

ConsentHostConsentButtonText

Consent to ControlButton to consent to a connection

ConsentHostRefuseButtonText

Refuse ControlButton to refuse a connection

GuestWelcomePanel.Message

Welcome to our online remote support and collaboration portal. The following options allow you to connect to a session.Welcome message on the Guest page

EDIT: I tried the new v25.4.25 and I can confirm the translation no longer applies.

Please realize that there are people who use ScreenConnect outside the English-speaking world. Please don't leave us behind.

Oh rejoice, everyone - ScreenConnect has truly outdone themselves this time. Instead of the revolting wallpaper, version 25.5.3.9371 graces us with… wait for it… an even uglier gradient. And, of course, you still can’t customize it! Because nothing screams “security” quite like refusing to let paying customers change a background color, right?

I’ve been an MSP for nearly two decades, and every single remote access tool I’ve ever touched allowed branding and customization. We’ve used ScreenConnect since long before ConnectWise bought it, and we’ve always customized it without issue. But now? Nope, apparently that’s too dangerous.

Honestly, what an absolute joke. It’s like they’re competing to see just how far they can push loyal customers before we give up and walk away.

So your throwing the baby out with the bath water because of scammers that abuse your product; but there are 1000's of legit customers that have PURCHASED, maintained and controlled their instances on their private, company servers, customized to their business model and what works best for them and their clients because a certificate authority says you need to?  Something does not make sense here....  I have been a LONGTIME supporter of Screenconnect when you guys were in a little office in Raleigh, NC; and I have owned and continued to pay for support and maintenance of my on-prem server, paying you now thousands of dollars to use your product because I was able to add value to my clients security posture, controlling every aspect of what, who and were these access grants were allowed.  The product was transparent and especially, it was spent countess hours of custom development to finetune my legit business in Eastern NC..  Your product lifecycle is now done; you have lost your edge that put you on the map and have abandoned the very trusted clients that helped you get to where you are today...  I understand your logic; F*&^% the customer...  This seems to be more and more of a common theme here... What makes sense here, is ScreenConnect should NOT allow customizations to UNLICENSED or trial platforms; but what I choose to do with software that I own, have a legit licensed copy of and have maintained is MY business...  Maybe ScreenConnect / Connectwise should take the Know Your Customer and the Federal Trade Commission mandate a little more seriously and understand, who, what and how your customers are using your product.   There are MANY MANY other solution vendors that have and will right this wrong; take note of this because I see the writing on the wall and the demise of what used to be a good, solid company...

We need the branding back pronto.  I am in breach of my own contracts that state my remote control software indicates the provider (my company) and not a company no one knows.  The questions have been flowing in about what the new icon is and why is it there.

Really hoping someone is reading this and seeing the complaints.

I have been using the customizations (company logo and background) since purchasing the product. Having it just disappear and be replaced with the ScreenConnect logo and rocket background was very disappointing. I did not read the email from ConnectWise that talked about that. I was just shocked to see my customizations gone when logging in. I use the software to manage company machines and like seeing our branding on the pages.

I came here to say exactly this.  We love having our company branding and losing it makes the product less appealing.

Here is the utter non-sense pass the buck reason I got from Support...

"the customizations have been removed in the current version because of a requirement from our Certificate Authority, to not allow the product to be used in a malicious way"

Uh hello ScreenConnect. Are you saying that any and all users that use customizations are therefore malicious users?!? So far in my many years of using this product; I have encountered many parallel rogue or "malicious" ScreenConnect agent installs. And those were in-fact not using any customizations. That is actually how I was able to figure out that they are not a real support entity since they don't spend time on branding etc.

So it almost like ScreenConnect is now aiding and abetting malicious users. Maybe they bring more to the table than actual business who use this as a support tool... WTF? Who is the dimwitted door-nail behind this decision?

If it is infact the CA then find a different CA that fits the needs. Roll this back or at least give us the logo / branding customizations back. My clients actually think that my remote access ability is now compromised due to everything looking so generic from my website and tray icon and banner.

I smell a lawsuit due to unlawful characterization and loss of business. Stop sitting on your hands and fix this before it blows away.

We need to revert the recent changes to ScreenConnect that removed the option to hide the tray icon and branding options.

It is causing unnecessary noise and extra workload from our customers.
They are seeing the icon, do not recognise it, and are either raising tickets or uninstalling the agent completely.
This has led to devices needing reauditing, especially in restricted environments where any unexpected change is flagged.
We now have to explain a change we did not authorise and were not warned about.

You have also removed the ability to brand the support page, which is another step backwards.

These changes do nothing to protect end users from malicious access. All they do is punish paying customers who are using the product as intended.
If security is the concern, put a paywall or verification process in place for the abuse cases. Do not push out broad restrictions that impact everyone.

Delaying branding options by six months or adding an approval step would make more sense than removing functionality and giving us no control.
Find the actual problem and fix that. Do not take a blanket approach that wastes time, damages trust, and puts more pressure on our support teams.

Without the hidden banner (for end user) we cannot continue with Connectwise Control.

Please update ScreenConnect to reinstate a secure method for customising the Systray icon and support page background ASAP.

Our enterprise level company left TeamViewer to use ScreenConnect Cloud because we had the ability to customize our instance with our branding and required security access message that is needed for our cyber-security/risk management insurance. We are not happy and will be highly considering moving away from this if it is not returned in a near-future release.
