Re-Enable Hide Option from ScreenConnect

New update for ScreenConnect removed the option to hide top bar/banner. This is not acceptable since we have 100s of Point Of Sale devices that are touchscreen and not being able to hide is causing tons of issues

Expend sometime with CW Chat and they didn't know about the change, had to spell it out for them, keep telling me to Hide the option even though I told them 3 times in chat it's permanently disable

Duplicates 1
Restore the ability to hide the connection banner and system tray icon.

We have serious concerns over the recent changes in ScreenConnect that have removed the ability to hide the connection banner and the system tray icon in Remote Access sessions.

These visibility controls were critical for our deployment. We use ScreenConnect in a tightly controlled, enterprise-managed environment. The ability to suppress the banner and icon was essential to our workflow, particularly for performing maintenance, silent updates, and classroom technology support where non-disruptive access is a requirement.

These changes negatively impact the functionality we’ve come to rely on and fundamentally reduce the value of the product for our use case.

Reconsider this change and restore the ability to suppress the connection banner and tray icon, at the very least, for customers using enterprise or paid versions of the software who can affirm proper use in managed deployments.

Please advise if a rollback is being considered. This is an important issue for us, and we’ll need to reevaluate our continued use of the platform if this restriction remains in place.

We have made significant changes to this implementation in our upcoming 25.7 release.

-The banner is now only visible on the Guest side
-The banner does not interfere with the host; if something is behind the banner, the host will not be blocked from clicking through

Upcoming changes will add a Dismiss button so the guest can hide the banner if they choose, and we will improve discovery that the banner can be moved.

We are planning some changes in this area, but moving forward, this banner will be present whenever a host is connected to a user session.
The option we are exploring is to draw it on a layer where it's not visibile to the host. Stay tuned for more on this.

So to be clear we will be able to hide it again or just the notification balloon - and does this apply to self hosted or cloud versions?   I like many others am canceling if I cannot get rid of this and my renewal is in 2 weeks.  I use the platform for not only my customers but my own machines it's driving me insane.  Don't fix what isn't broke my goodness.

  • The ability to hide the notification balloon is returning for all partners on-prem and cloud
  •  The 'Under Control' banner will not be visible on the host screen, instead it is only visible to the guest. This applies to both on prem and cloud instances, additionally we anticipate some further changes in that area in future releases:
    • Return the Hide option in the banner on a per use basis, this won't be configurable, and the Guest will have to perform the Hide action
    • Update the banner to make it more evident that the banner can be moved

    1. What is the "exact" release these features are going to come back?

    2. If the banner is hidden for the Host but not for the Guest, will it cause issues for the Host when moving the mouse up in that banner location or will there be no issues? For example, currently the banner blocks browser tabs and we have to move it out of the way constantly. Will the Guest have to move it out of the way for us or will this not be an issue at all?

Banner is just in the way -- and if I am working on a system that is connect to a remote desktop - forget it. Banner wars.

    Needs to be fixed ASAP

I've been holding off commenting on this for a while, but now I must add my voice.
We find the "Host" and "Guest" language very confusing. Is the "Host" the system controlling, or the system being controlled?

If the "Host" is the system being controlled, then displaying the "under control" banner only on the "Guest" seems a bit pointless, so I am guessing it's the other way around.

If the "Host" is the system controlling, and the "Guest" is the system being controlled, then if I'm not mistaken, hiding the "under control" banner from the Host, and displaying it only to the Guest, actually makes this situation, that everyone is complaining bitterly about, WORSE, rather than better.

From what I'm reading in this forum, you may loose many paying customers over this. We may be one of them.

I have just installed the 25.7.1.9413 preview. And this is now WORSE. The banner is still there for the technician, but it is not visible. It is transparent, but blocks clicks. You can still move it off the screen, but you can't see it to help with the move. I understand the need for you to implement things to alert the user that their computer is being controlled to help prevent use by scammers, but as others have said, vet the company before letting them use your product. Or, at least for those who have been customers for years, give them the ability to turn this off. I have been with ScreenConnect for over 10 years, with more than 600 connected endpoints. I should have long since passed the not a scammer threshold.

Thanks for confirming what I suspected in my earlier post. They’re not truly hiding it — it’s just transparent and blocking clicks, which is not a solution. It’s been a constant headache for all of us and continues to be every single day with every single server and end users computer we remote into. Every single day we have to drag that stupid banner off the screen. It's honestly hell. The only real fix is to give us the ability to disable this entirely liked we used to. We won't be upgrading anymore until this is perm fixed because as you said, every update you do, it gets worse. I miss version 23, everything just worked properly.

It just directly affected me. I remoted into one of my servers and couldn't understand why I couldn't change tabs in the browser. Then I remembered that there is an invisible banner blocking it, and I had to slide it somewhere. I'm not sure where, as I cannot see it.

Hello everybody, we are currently working on the bug you have mentioned regarding can't click when hidden, we are considering this a release blocker so expect a fix before we go Stable.

As of today, the option to hide the banner has been removed. That banner is a pain; it covers part of the user's screen so I'm continually having to drag it out of the way while I'm working. I also sometimes am asked by a customer's management to review a user's workstation for policy violations or watch what a user is doing. The customer doesn't want the end user to know this is happening. PLEASE revisit this policy and allow the banner AND the notification popup to be hidden.

That's good news. Will the bug fix be in the next latest stable version after 25.6.9.9400?
