Restore the ability to hide the connection banner and system tray icon.

We have serious concerns over the recent changes in ScreenConnect that have removed the ability to hide the connection banner and the system tray icon in Remote Access sessions.

These visibility controls were critical for our deployment. We use ScreenConnect in a tightly controlled, enterprise-managed environment. The ability to suppress the banner and icon was essential to our workflow, particularly for performing maintenance, silent updates, and classroom technology support where non-disruptive access is a requirement.

These changes negatively impact the functionality we’ve come to rely on and fundamentally reduce the value of the product for our use case.

Reconsider this change and restore the ability to suppress the connection banner and tray icon, at the very least, for customers using enterprise or paid versions of the software who can affirm proper use in managed deployments.

Please advise if a rollback is being considered. This is an important issue for us, and we’ll need to reevaluate our continued use of the platform if this restriction remains in place.

Our enterprise level company left TeamViewer to use ScreenConnect Cloud because we had the ability to customize our instance with our branding and required security access message that is needed for our cyber-security/risk management insurance. We are not happy and will be highly considering moving away from this if it is not returned in a near-future release.

This is getting more and more ridiculous.

You are not listening to customers, and are very obviously scared of your own product and its certificate signing. Someone external has reviewed your code, and something is obviously very wrong under the hood.

The branding removal, and the inability to hide annoying overlays for our customers (whom we are contracted with to provide quiet, seamless support to) is just smoke and mirrors. Who exactly are you protecting?

We are getting constant asks from our customer base about the (awful) ScreenConnect logo (green), as well as complaints of interruption.

A vendor that no longer listens is a failing vendor. We have removed all other ConnectWise products now and moved to alternatives. 15+ years with these products, and you have finally made me decide that this was the last renewal.

Your blog post was a disgrace and an insult to your customer base.

Be better.

We have notified our Connectwise AE and Partner Care that we consider this flagrant removal of a features a breach of contract. I suggest you all do the same. We contracted for an application that works a specific way, and they have made the decision to pull the rug from beneath our feet. If not cured immediately, we will return the favor.

Just to add my immensely frustrated voice to this chain... The forced banner really pissed me off because it interferes with the way we use it, AND it creates extra steps for EVERY SESSION, since it gets in the way EVERY TIME!  NOW they removed the ability to even manually remove/hide, so I have to move everything AROUND it when it is inevitably in the way.  You have made a bad decision worse.  Improve the product, stop wrecking it!  A change like this might provide .0013% better security, but will make the product 125% more annoying to use and force customers to look for a better one.

Everyone should create a support ticket with this message.

I understand that the banner stating “Your computer is being controlled by…” is important for transparency and security. However, there should be an option to temporarily hide or close the banner during presentations or sensitive visual environments. This flexibility would greatly benefit users in professional settings without compromising trust.

So I guess this must be SC’s Coca-Cola/Bud Light/Jaguar/Cracker Barrel moment of temporary (if they're wise) insanity. At least Coke listenened & brought back “classic” and Cracker Barrel restored the logo's “old timer’. The impact of the terrible move to force constant banners on those of us who based our purchase of Screenconnect on its customizability is huge and it truly makes me wonder if their goal is to cull customers or “manage out” on-premise accounts. Well, that tingling means it’s working.

If it helps anyone, a month ago I invested a half day to set up Tactical RMM (open source). I’m primarly a Windows guy but setting up Debian on a hyper-v client to host it was straightforward mostly painless. After that, administration is all web-based. I backstaged to my SC clients and ran a PowerShell script generated by TRMM to install on all my SC clients to reestablish a redundant remote control solution that is BANNERLESS and it actually does a few things better than SC.

Separately, for those of you who have less than 200 clients, Action1 offers remote access at no charge. Their wheelhouse is patching (which is outstanding), but the remote control feature works well and the agent install certs are signed so no issue there. You can generate a PowerShell script, backstage into your SC clients and push the Action1 agent install. No Mac support for Action1—yet. You’re welcome!

I'm glad I'm not the only person mad about this. The fact that these changes are pushed straight into production is creating unnecessary headaches for end users, MSPs, and IT teams like ours. We’ve received countless tickets from users asking about the new banner or complaining, “what’s this now?” It’s incredibly frustrating that the banner originally had an “exit” option, which was then removed. Now, every time we remote into an end user’s system or a server to troubleshoot, we’re forced to waste time dragging the banner out of the way just to access browser tabs.

It seems like common sense to provide a simple “X” button on the banner itself to dismiss the banner quickly vs. having the click the "gear" then click exit, or at least give us the option to reposition it somewhere less intrusive, such as the middle-far right of the screen. Instead, this banner has become a daily time sink across our entire workflow.

Looking forward to having this banner hidden to HOST users.

Do we have an official response yet? I feel like the general consensus is to AT LEAST provide us with more options if you're going to force banners and icons that we can't even change.

Me and my team are running into separate issues with the bar interacting poorly with the Microsoft Teams banner, causing people to get locked out of meeting controls.

This REALLY needs to be reverted.

All I know is that in my last conversation with an SC engineer, they mentioned the issue is being actively discussed and should be resolved “soon.” What “soon” means is anyone’s guess—it could be a month, maybe two. They did confirm, however, that it’s currently the most talked about issue and that numerous partners are royally pissed. I do agree with the other post about getting out of contracts or another option is credits.

I've used every remote software out there and I still believe SC is the best remote access product on the market, but its product support has been trending in the wrong direction. We came from TeamViewer (TV) and glad we left them and will never go back regardless of these SC issues. [If anyone is still with TV, I strongly recommend leaving as soon as your contract is up and never giving that company another dime. We had tickets and emails "in writing" confirming that auto-renew was disabled. For years, this was never an issue. Then last year, they charged us anyway. When we opened a ticket about it, TV claimed we hadn’t replied to their auto-renew Nov notice, despite our documentation clearly showing auto-renew was disabled back in 2018. We even filed a chargeback with our bank, but TV argued that “per the EULA, you didn’t respond to the auto-renew notice,” and the bank sided with them every time. TV knows exactly what they are doing and updated their EULA. They're criminals, just like the banks. We went as far as hiring an attorney in New York to file a suit, but ultimately decided not to proceed—the legal fees would have exceeded the amount in dispute. Attorney's always win! We also worried about potential retaliation, such as being permanently banned from using their free version for one-off clients. In the end, we had to cancel our business card entirely just to stop them from charging us again. Now they get no money from us and we use their free product. All we wanted to do was downgrade our product to a less amount version, however, they refused, so we killed them off completely. In they end, they scammed us but lost all future business from us and everybody we talk to we make sure they never use them again.]

As a final thought, new features for SC are great, but the priority should be supporting the existing product and keeping partners satisfied to not leave. Change can also be valuable, but hard forcing it across all partners without fully considering the impact only creates unnecessary frustration.

Side note: Simple copy-and-paste still isn’t working from Excel or other applications—a problem that’s been around for a long time. My ticket on this has been open for a year and a half. Yes, you read that right, 1.5 years! Supposedly, it’s finally fixed and will roll out in version 25.7 or 25.8, so we’ll see.

Everyone,

We’ve been doing a deep dive on security and design, which meant tearing things down and rebuilding some core features from scratch. It’s not just cleanup; we’re rethinking how things work to make the product more secure, scalable, and future-proof. That’s led to some tough calls in terms of priority, but we're still hard at work.

Version 25.6 began stable rollout earlier this week. In this release, we’ve removed the Guest Page Welcome Panel Heading and Message—only the “Join with Code” box will be shown now.

Version 25.7 is expected to roll out in about three weeks. In that update:

  • The “Under Control” banner will no longer be visible to hosts.
    • We are exploring UI/UX on this to improve discoverability of the ability to move the banner, this will be in a future release.
  • We’re bringing back the admin setting to control the visibility of the notification balloon (“Show Notification Balloon on Connect” and “Show Notification Balloon on Hide”).
  • The new Acknowledgement dialog will include Spanish, French, and German translations, with more languages coming soon.

We’re listening, and we’ll keep sharing updates as things roll out.
